Individual Economics

Economics predict the economic trends of a nation and make suggestions to ensure the economy stays on the right path; managers and consultants examine the operation of a company and try to improve its performance.

I think most people would like a nice and healthy financial status. And the start of it might be the realization of how and why to achieve this status, which falls under individual economics.

There are books discussing such things, though with different approaches.

Sway tells us that our metaphysics may have a big influence on our decision about whether to take a deal and how to do it. Feeling unjustly treated would make us refuse a profitable deal.

Black Swan states that our illogical preference for reasoning about everything that we know or don’t know entails rather dangerous risks.

And the book "Why Smart People Make Big Mistakes and How to Correct Them" discusses how "psychological accounts" allow us to waste our money, and how we lose more when we are not able to accept the sunk cost. For example, do you sell your shares that are profitable? Or do you hold the ones that are becoming increasingly worthless--or even buy more? Will you go out to watch a movie when heavy snow makes it dangerous just because you have paid for the ticket?

These are considerations not only about financial management, but also something more, kind of like “Think twice” sayings.

If we use the knowledge of economics to question our decisions, we might gain more in life.
